Reduce The Impact of communicating barriers

Barriers To CommunicationTask 3 (b)
General

You need to engage the audience and also satisfy their required needs or expectations. For example when a person turns up at a talk, they have an idea in their head of what they are going to be told. If I was creating a website I would make the site easy to use and with the relevant information on it. I would help them interact with by e.g. by putting in quizzes, etc

I would make sure it looks good and is relevant to the audience – young children want colour and pictures etc. also engaging the audience is a great way to keep them interested in what you are saying, if you ask them questions quite regularly throughout the presentations, they will gain an interest in the presentation so they can be prepared for future questions its hard not to drift out of what is being presented when your constantly being involved in the presentation that is being given out.

Body Language
The human body gives off various noticeable changes especially in any situation, most people are able to read these body signals when someone's nervous, shy or excited they are quite easy to notice so when giving out a presentation per say, this will give most people that nervous and frightened body language that people can easily pick up on. so when people are giving presentations they keep there both hands moving and a positive stature this is good body language the audience pay attention to someone who has confidence if someone is standing up with no confidence it is easy to loose interest in what they are talking about very easy.

Engage the Audience
To reduce the barriers of enaging the audience, you must try and entertain your audience and keep them interested in what you are talking about. This can be done by interacting with the audience and asking questions to keep them engaged, try and put the information that you are trying to get across in a fun way that the audience will enjoy. Also talking in a language that the audience understand will keep them interested, people would begin to drift off and get bored if you are talking to simple or complicated, this changes depending on the age group and of the field that the audience is, e.g hairdressers wouldnt really understand computer language and vise versa. Good social skills can make this easier for the person giving out a presentation, dont have too many distraction in your presentation such as writing spinning and flying around the page, the same goes for pictures/images.
Just keep it plain and simple, with relevant information, if possible try and relate it to the audience in their course, job or everyday life. this will also keep their attention because you are engaging them and keeping them interested with what you are saying. Make sure your presentation has relevant information throughout if the audience knows that the information is not truthful they may lose interest and not listen to what you are saying.

Interpersonal
Adapting to suit an audience
Reducing barriers of adapting to suit an audience is done by using the right language that is suitable for the age group of the audience and the intelligence of the audience, it also depends on what you are giving the presentation on the audience needs to understand what you are talking about when you give these presentations. adapting to suit the audience can be difficult if not knowing what they are interested in, but if you are giving a presentation to people that you are with everyday at work or college it should be much easier as you know how to adapt to their environment. that's why it is usefull to get information on who you are giving the presentation to. When using technical terminology, you must make sure that the message you are trying to communicate to an audience is clear and simple. This is extremely important, as it helps to avoid any barriers to communication. Many employees of the IT industry, find it hard and struggle to communicate with people on a daily basis. For example don’t use abbreviations like CPU instead of central processing unit or URL instead of using web address. Adapting to suit an audience comes to speaking a language that the audience understand, if giving a talk to young children you wouldn't use big long words that they do not understand.

Written
Proofreading
proof reading is very important when it comes to doing a presentation the last thing you want is a load of words that aren't spelled right and that don't make sense. this can be prevented by just simply reading over your work or getting a friend or colleague to read over it for you, also if it is read out loud you can hear what sounds right and what doesn't sound right. punctuation is a big part of this as it will make the presentation look better and intelligent. If there was no punctuation the presentation would also not make sense. make sure that the layout for the audience isn't all over the page keep the text to one side and the images to the other don't be mixing them up this will confuse the audience and may confuse yourself as you will be looking all over the page for writing, it looks tidier and is far nicer to read. Proof reading helps with multiple things such as punctuation and even the layout of the document, if you or a classmate read over work before looking over there would be multiple mistakes that you wouldn't notice when typing it up. Proof reading is the same as saying looking over your work and fixing/removing mistakes.

Barriers to Communication

Barriers To Communication task 3 (a)

General Communication
Engage the Audience

It is important to engage your audience, this is important as you need to keep your audience interested/entertained otherwise they will get bored and sleepy. For example if you are giving a presentation and you just tell them what you have to say and leave it at that, the audience could get bored. The idea is to keep them entertained and interested in what you are talking about.
One important factor to take into consideration, is when engaging your audience use humour, if your sense of humour is different to that of your audience then you could look very silly if you crack a joke and they dont find it funny and just laugh at you. Worst case scenario, they may find it offensive, and that would be bad. You could use programs such as powerpoint to help aid you with the presenation. Pictures, video and sound also make the . Dont over do images or videos, or the novelty will soon go away and the presentation will soon look cluttered.
It is important as to keep your audience on the ball of what your saying.
A presentation is a great example for this as your presenting to a maybe a small or large group of people, and if your talk about boring stuff long and too detailed things, your audience will lose interest. the key thing to do is to make short snappy and detailed bullet points and expand.

Interpersonal Communication

Adapting to suit an audience

First of all there are a lot of culture types in the modern day so you must make sure you know there beliefs if it be with religion or rules they have. Be mindful of the situation your in, you don't want to end up offending any one. For example Muslims, they have strict rules and beliefs including certain clothing they wear to food they eat. Also it will be vital to speak clearly and get your point full across as some people might not understand the English language. If they don't understand you fully then its more than likely there will be something wrong. Your teaching style might have to change with the different cultures you meet, a lot of people come from all kinds of backgrounds so be caring and supportive because it will take time to learn.
Now moving onto the different types of audience you may come up against, it could be from school children to university students or friends and family as well as people you may work with. Be careful and prepared that you use the right language for the correct audience. You don't want to be swearing or using long and difficult terms when you with school kids because they simply won't understand. Where as with your co-workers you can making sure you keep professional but use bigger more smarter words because you don't want to insult there intelligences. Always be prepared for different audiences and prepared to adapt to the types of situation your in.

Interpersonal Communication Skills
Interpersonal skills are important to have and are valuable in nearly any situation. Interpersonal skills are skills that help us communicate effectively with others such as your peers. with interpersonal skills comes good social skills, and can effectively communicate with someone using various techniques. interpersonal skills are almost invaluble especially if you want a good job and you want a good relationship with your manager and other co-workers.

Written Communication Skills
Proofreading
Proofreading is a big part in written communication almost everyone makes mistakes when writing things especially something important such as an application form or a CV. The last thing that you want in one of these written documents is mistakes such as spelling and the writing not making sense. So the way you can check this is read over your work or get someone to read over it for you. reading out loud can make the mistakes very obvious. Most of the mistakes that people make a long document with no stopping just a continious sentence the best way is to make sure you have plenty of puntuation to make sense out of your document, paragraphs need to be remebered as they will make your work easier to read. Before handing a document to your tutor or to an employer proof read it to make sure that its makes sense and be sure to have someone read over it just to be sure that it makes sense.

Principles of Effective Communication

General

To have General Communication Skills, you will have to be able to adapt the content and style of your communication. This will enable you to engage the audience and also satisfy their required needs or expectations. When using technical terminology, you must make sure that the message you are trying to communicate to an audience is clear and simple. This is extremely important, as it helps to avoid any barriers to communication. Many employees of the IT industry, find it hard and struggle to communicate with people on a daily basis.

The use of language is very important especially when explaining something to do with the IT part of things as the volunteers might not fully understand what you would be talking about so try and use a more simple type of language but trying not to insult they’re intelligence by talking to simple like children. The use of language used when talking about IT will change due to the experience or the age of the audience you are giving the presentation out to.

Interpersonal Communication Skills

Interpersonal Skills allows you to express a message or emotion through the use of verbal communication and active engagement. It also enables you to communicate in several ways including sign language, lip +reading, facial expressions, body language and many more. Some people choose to communicate through the use of facial expressions and body language as other means of communication. It will also make them focus on you more, which means that they cannot be easily distracted. By having interpersonal skills, you can also choose to communicate through the use of positive and negative language.

Distractions are always there for people especially when giving out a presentation, this may be from they’re mobile phone or from something that is happening else where such as outside the room or that has been told to you shortly before. The task is trying to keep your audience amused with the information that your PowerPoint has to give and the way you give it. Boredom mostly makes people get distracted when siiting them in front of a presentation. The language that I used must suit the appropriate audience you wouldn't use computer abbreviations when talking to people that don't have an interest in computers, these people wouldn't understand what the abbreviations mean.

Written Communication Skills

Written Communication can be effective in many ways, and it does require you to have a clear knowledge of grammar. Your use of vocabulary and grammar is important, as it affects the way in which you communicate and convey a message to an audience. Letter writing can be an effective way of written communication. The reason for this is because it allows you to use text and images, in order to give your audience a better understanding of your message. It also enables you to use your knowledge of grammar and vocabulary, which can make the message seem more detailed and professionally written. Written Communication is different in comparison to verbal communication. Although you are still communicating with your audience, it can be a completely different way of conveying your message.

A good structure will help you to express yourself more clearly, whether its an essay, a job application letter or a CV. The following tactics may help you to structure your writing.
Clarify your thoughts and the purpose of your communication before you start writing. In business communications, clarity is more important than style. Identify the key points, facts and themes. Decide on a logical order for what you have to say. Compose a strong introduction and ending. The first will make an immediate and positive impression on the reader the second will remain in their mind after they have finished reading. Use short paragraphs and sentences rather than long, rambling ones. Keep to one idea per paragraph and put your point in the first line, then add the supporting information. Help key points to stand out by the use of headings, sub-headings and bullet points. This will allow your reader to quickly scan your message for the main points.

Introduction to learning styles

in this post i will be writing about and describing the different learning styles that are the most popular.

The Five Learning Styles

The social (interpersonal) learning style, of the Memletic Learning StylesVisual
A visual learner prefers to look at pictures or images of whatever the learning task is they can make alot of sense out of them. a visual learner finds it easy to visualise objects, outcomes of different things. when using a map visual learners rarely get lost. they love drawing, doodling, especially when it comes to colours. also have a good dress sense or eye for fashion.

Verbal
This involves both the written and spoken words. If this is your style you will notice it easy to write or speak the way you feel about yourself. also the love for playing on the meaning or sound of different words such as in tongue twisters. these type of learners know the meaning of lots of words and regularly make the effort to know the meaning of new words. You would use phrases you have picked up recently, when talking to others.

 Physical
If your a physical learner you use your body and sense of touch to learn about the enviroment around you. sports and exercise tend to come easy to these types of learners, and other activities such as woodworking. These leaners are more aware of the physical world around them. they notice and appreciate textures, for example in clothes or furniture, also making models, or working out jigsaws. The thought of sitting in and listening to someone else talk annoys these people, In those circumstances, you fidget or can't sit still for long.

Logical
If your a logical style learner, you like using your brain for mathematics. You recognise patterns easily as well as connections between meaningless content. This also leads you to classify and group information to help you learn or understand it.
You work well with numbers and you can perform complicated calculations. You remember the basics of trigonometry and algebra.

Social
You communicate well with people, both verbally and non-verbally. People listen to you and you are sensitive to their feelings or moods. You listen well and understand other's views. You typically prefer learning in groups or classes . You prefer to work through issues, ideas and problems with a group. You thoroughly enjoy working with a 'clicking' or synergistic group of people. You prefer to stay around after class and talk with others. You prefer social activities, rather than doing your own thing.
