Principles of Effective Communication

General

To have General Communication Skills, you will have to be able to adapt the content and style of your communication. This will enable you to engage the audience and also satisfy their required needs or expectations. When using technical terminology, you must make sure that the message you are trying to communicate to an audience is clear and simple. This is extremely important, as it helps to avoid any barriers to communication. Many employees of the IT industry, find it hard and struggle to communicate with people on a daily basis.

The use of language is very important especially when explaining something to do with the IT part of things as the volunteers might not fully understand what you would be talking about so try and use a more simple type of language but trying not to insult they’re intelligence by talking to simple like children. The use of language used when talking about IT will change due to the experience or the age of the audience you are giving the presentation out to.

Interpersonal Communication Skills

Interpersonal Skills allows you to express a message or emotion through the use of verbal communication and active engagement. It also enables you to communicate in several ways including sign language, lip +reading, facial expressions, body language and many more. Some people choose to communicate through the use of facial expressions and body language as other means of communication. It will also make them focus on you more, which means that they cannot be easily distracted. By having interpersonal skills, you can also choose to communicate through the use of positive and negative language.

Distractions are always there for people especially when giving out a presentation, this may be from they’re mobile phone or from something that is happening else where such as outside the room or that has been told to you shortly before. The task is trying to keep your audience amused with the information that your PowerPoint has to give and the way you give it. Boredom mostly makes people get distracted when siiting them in front of a presentation. The language that I used must suit the appropriate audience you wouldn't use computer abbreviations when talking to people that don't have an interest in computers, these people wouldn't understand what the abbreviations mean.

Written Communication Skills

Written Communication can be effective in many ways, and it does require you to have a clear knowledge of grammar. Your use of vocabulary and grammar is important, as it affects the way in which you communicate and convey a message to an audience. Letter writing can be an effective way of written communication. The reason for this is because it allows you to use text and images, in order to give your audience a better understanding of your message. It also enables you to use your knowledge of grammar and vocabulary, which can make the message seem more detailed and professionally written. Written Communication is different in comparison to verbal communication. Although you are still communicating with your audience, it can be a completely different way of conveying your message.

A good structure will help you to express yourself more clearly, whether its an essay, a job application letter or a CV. The following tactics may help you to structure your writing.
Clarify your thoughts and the purpose of your communication before you start writing. In business communications, clarity is more important than style. Identify the key points, facts and themes. Decide on a logical order for what you have to say. Compose a strong introduction and ending. The first will make an immediate and positive impression on the reader the second will remain in their mind after they have finished reading. Use short paragraphs and sentences rather than long, rambling ones. Keep to one idea per paragraph and put your point in the first line, then add the supporting information. Help key points to stand out by the use of headings, sub-headings and bullet points. This will allow your reader to quickly scan your message for the main points.

Introduction to learning styles

in this post i will be writing about and describing the different learning styles that are the most popular.

The Five Learning Styles

The social (interpersonal) learning style, of the Memletic Learning StylesVisual
A visual learner prefers to look at pictures or images of whatever the learning task is they can make alot of sense out of them. a visual learner finds it easy to visualise objects, outcomes of different things. when using a map visual learners rarely get lost. they love drawing, doodling, especially when it comes to colours. also have a good dress sense or eye for fashion.

Verbal
This involves both the written and spoken words. If this is your style you will notice it easy to write or speak the way you feel about yourself. also the love for playing on the meaning or sound of different words such as in tongue twisters. these type of learners know the meaning of lots of words and regularly make the effort to know the meaning of new words. You would use phrases you have picked up recently, when talking to others.

 Physical
If your a physical learner you use your body and sense of touch to learn about the enviroment around you. sports and exercise tend to come easy to these types of learners, and other activities such as woodworking. These leaners are more aware of the physical world around them. they notice and appreciate textures, for example in clothes or furniture, also making models, or working out jigsaws. The thought of sitting in and listening to someone else talk annoys these people, In those circumstances, you fidget or can't sit still for long.

Logical
If your a logical style learner, you like using your brain for mathematics. You recognise patterns easily as well as connections between meaningless content. This also leads you to classify and group information to help you learn or understand it.
You work well with numbers and you can perform complicated calculations. You remember the basics of trigonometry and algebra.

Social
You communicate well with people, both verbally and non-verbally. People listen to you and you are sensitive to their feelings or moods. You listen well and understand other's views. You typically prefer learning in groups or classes . You prefer to work through issues, ideas and problems with a group. You thoroughly enjoy working with a 'clicking' or synergistic group of people. You prefer to stay around after class and talk with others. You prefer social activities, rather than doing your own thing.

You work well with numbers and you can perform complicated calculations. You remember the basics of trigonometry and algebra.
I am able to learn just about anything using my logical skills. i am able to calculate and work out relationships and connections between items. i have good deductive reasoning skills. I enjoy computer battle games. A logical learner is a person who enjoys counting, math games, computers, and experimenting, as long as the experiments are logical. These students are good at problem solving, abstract thinking and recognising patterns. I know i am a logical learner as i must think things through in my head, if it doesnt make sense then i wont understand it i also like to keep a to-do list in my head i like order and planning things out.
